Austrian HABAU GROUP Invests 11 Million Euros for Sustainable Expansion Using Road-Rail Vehicles

by | Aug 9, 2023 | Industrial

The Vollert Group announced that Austrian building company HABAU GROUP has made a substantial investment of 11 million euros to expand its hollow-core slab production at its Perg factory site. This strategic move is set to increase production capacity by nearly 30% per annum, bolstering the company’s competitive edge in the prefabricated parts market. The expansion aligns with HABAU’s commitment to sustainable practices and eco-friendly solutions.

Sustainable Technology Drives Expansion

HABAU GROUP’s expansion endeavors are underpinned by a strong emphasis on sustainable technology. The company’s approach extends beyond just production capacity, encompassing every facet of the plant’s operations. The loading and removal processes have been optimized with the integration of emission-free road-rail vehicles. This eco-conscious approach ensures efficient material transport while minimizing environmental impact.

Swift Installation and Increased Capacity

The Perg factory site in Upper Austria witnessed the installation of a state-of-the-art, highly automated hollow-core slab production line within an 11-month timeframe. This new addition to the facility reflects HABAU’s responsiveness to its growing building projects and aims to elevate its capacities from the current 70 – 80,000 sqm to approximately 100,000 sqm. The inauguration of the new plant technology took place on June 14th, 2023, marking a milestone in HABAU’s expansion journey.

Driving Sustainability with Optimized Floor Slabs

The prefabricated floor slabs manufactured by HABAU hold a role in industrial and commercial construction projects. These slabs are designed to reduce CO2 emissions through optimized cross-sections that minimize concrete usage. Reportedly, Christoph Haider, Head of the Prefabricated parts planning group at HABAU, underscores the company’s commitment to sustainability. Additionally, the outdoor storage area of 7,500 sqm for the prefabricated hollow-core slabs emphasizes flexibility and emission-free processes.

Efficient Removal Process with Innovative Road-Rail Technology

Vollert Anlagenbau GmbH’s VLEX 20 road-rail robot takes center stage in the efficient removal process of hollow-core slabs for loading. This agile solution outperforms conventional transport cars, offering seamless rail and road maneuverability. Its versatile design accommodates curved rail paths and heavy loads of up to 300 t. The battery-operated technology ensures emission-free operation, aligning perfectly with HABAU’s sustainability goals.
