Pipedreams Pilots its Underground Logistic System with Wendy’s

by | May 18, 2023 | Service

Fast-food chain Wendy’s announced on Wednesday that it is teaming up with “hyper logistics” company Pipedream to pilot a revolutionary food delivery system. The partnership aims to provide customers with lightning-fast service by delivering food orders to designated parking spots in a matter of seconds.

Deepak Ajmani, Wendy’s U.S. chief operations officer, emphasized the importance of speed and accuracy in customer satisfaction. To achieve this, Pipedream’s Instant Pickup system utilizes an innovative underground autonomous robot system to transport meals from the kitchen to an external portal. This allows customers who place online orders to conveniently receive their food without having to leave their vehicles.

Wendy’s plans to implement Pipedream’s underground delivery system in one of its existing restaurants later this year. However, the company has not disclosed specific details regarding the pilot program’s location.

Matt Spessard, Wendy’s Global Chief Technology Officer, expressed excitement about the partnership, highlighting the potential to revolutionize digital pick-ups and expand Wendy’s reach quickly and efficiently. He also noted the increasing preference for mobile ordering.

The announcement of the Pipedream partnership follows Wendy’s favorable first-quarter results, which surpassed expectations. The company maintained its full-year outlook despite market challenges.
