AMP Robotics Corp., a leader in artificial intelligence (AI), robotics, and infrastructure for the waste and recycling industry, has secured financing from Microsoft’s Climate Innovation Fund. This latest investment has increased AMP’s Series C round, which was led by Congruent Ventures and Wellington Management, to over $99 million.
Matanya Horowitz, founder and CEO of AMP Robotics, expressed gratitude for Microsoft’s investment and its expertise in AI and climate innovation. He emphasized the importance of advanced technology in the waste industry, not only for productivity and labor efficiency but also for meeting sustainability commitments and complying with new recycling policies.
AMP will use the Series C funding to expand its operations and deploy AI-powered automation solutions to retrofit existing recycling infrastructure and build new infrastructure. AMP recently introduced AMP Cortex™-C, a compact, AI-enabled automated sortation solution, and an integrated, standalone facility offering for waste management companies. These developments follow the launch of AMP Vortex™ to improve recovery of film and flexible packaging.
Brandon Middaugh, senior director of Microsoft’s Climate Innovation Fund, praised AMP’s application of AI-enabled automation, calling it a powerful and scalable solution to extend the circular economy and address the global waste crisis. In 2022, AMP’s AI platform identified nearly 75 billion objects, and the company has deployed hundreds of sorting devices worldwide to increase recycling rates and landfill diversion.
